Morning Concerts

All 2017 Morning Concerts are held on a Tuesday, commencing at 10.30 am

7 March
Mostly Mozart

Rebecca Chan, who was to be the violinist of our first morning concert of 2017, has just been appointed to the prestigious position of Associate Concertmaster of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.  CMS congratulates her on this great achievement.  Rebecca was prepared to return to Melbourne to play our concert.  Sadly, despite her best efforts, she is unable to fit such a journey into her new commitments.

We are pleased to announce Yi Wang, an acclaimed violinist from Orchestra Victoria, as Rebecca’s replacement. He and internationally renowned pianist Kristian Chong will present a delightful program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Fritz Kreisler.

All details subject to change without notice.

9 May
An American in Paris

Pianist Elyane Laussade presents a splendid blend of musical gems from America and France. A program of her favourites ranges from Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau and Scott Joplin Rags, to Ravel’s Ondine and the solo version of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, with much more in between. Do come and enjoy the sublime textures and colours of the French, juxtaposed with the exuberant entertainment of the Americans.

17 October
Virtuoso Violin

Our final morning concert features the charismatic and dazzling violin virtuoso,
Jennen Ngiau-Keng, who is making his CMS debut. He is joined by international pianist and CMS favourite Ke Lin, in a program that features two highlights of the chamber repertoire: Brahms No 1 and Beethoven’s popular ‘Spring’ Sonata.
