22 September
Chamber Concertos

Join two of Australia’s leading younger generation pianists in a concert that presents two popular concertos in the format in which the composers most often performed them in their own day. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A major K 414 is joyous from first note to last and one of his most loved. Equally, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No 1 in E minor is infused with a blend of both virtuosity and dreamy lyricism that is sure to send hearts soaring. Hannah Shin and Michael Nguyen will be joined by members of the Camberwell Camerata, led by Marianne Rothschild in the composers’ own versions for piano and string quartet.

Clair de Lune

CMS’s final concert for 2018 sees the return of virtuoso pianist Ke Lin - a long-time CMS favourite - in a varied program featuring works inspired by the night. Audiences will be enchanted by Beethoven’s celebrated ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, as well as Claude Debussy’s popular Clair de Lune. Evocative Nocturnes by Frédéric Chopin and Russian great Alexander Scriabin’s towering Fantasie round out a program that is sure to delight all.
