All 2017 Evening Concerts are held on a Saturday, commencing at 7.30 pm

New Zealand Chamber Soloists

CMS is delighted to welcome back the internationally acclaimed NZ Chamber Soloists. NZCS have toured throughout Europe four times in the past six years, receiving return invitations to perform in international festivals in Europe as well as in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, USA, Colombia and Australia. For this exciting concert featuring trios by Beethoven, Schubert and Dvorák, they are joined by international award-winning violinist
Amalia Hall, who is currently based in Italy.

A Family Affair

The popular piano duo Igor Machlak and Olga Kharitonova return to CMS in a program which will include music for one, two, four and six hands on one piano. They will be joined by Una Machlak (piano) and Misha Machlak (violin) in a concert featuring Brahms’ left hand version of Bach’s celebrated violin Chaconne, excerpts from Mikhail Pletnev’s marvellous solo arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and some rarely performed pieces by Rachmaninoff and Schnittke for one piano, six hands.

The Ormond String Quartet

The Ormond String Quartet is currently the quartet in residence at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. The group is made up of internationally acclaimed artists who bring experience in teaching and performance from all over the world. They have a passionate vision for the highest development of string playing in Australia. This not-to-be missed season-ending event will feature unforgettable quartets by Beethoven, Ravel and Turina.
